How to build a course?

With GetResponse, you can build your own course to share learning materials and resources, and diversify how you monetize your expertise. Courses will help you build your audience, establish yourself as an authority in your field, build credibility, and expand your personal or professional brand.

Courses offered by GetResponse are structured as the following:

  1. Course – an extensive learning package that covers a whole subject or skill, or a complete program with all the modules and lessons. It includes everything you need to learn about a certain topic.
  2. Module – a smaller section of the course. It covers one part of the subject in detail and includes several lessons (like a chapter in a book).
  3. Lesson – a single teaching unit within a module. It can be a video, text, or another type of content that teaches one specific thing.

How to create a course

To create a course:

  1. Go to Tools > Courses.

  2. Click on the Create course button.

  3. Click on the Add module button if you would like to build a course by yourself, or click on the Generate template button to use AI to build it for you.

  4. Start by adding lessons to your course modules. You can choose from seven different types of lessons.

If you would like to check each lesson type in more detail, you can read our article about the lesson formats available in the course creator.

  5. After you create your module you can add additional ones by clicking on the Add module button in the course navigator. Multiple modules will help you create a more structured and easy-to-follow course.

  6. When your modules are created, proceed to the Completion page visible at the bottom of the course navigator menu. There, you can set up your thank-you message and offer a certificate of completion.

You can use our default certificate or create your own.

If you would like to learn more about the completion page, you can check our article here, and if you would like to check how to create your own certificate, you can follow this guide.

  7. When you finish building your course, click the Next button in the top right corner of the course builder to set up its settings. In this section, you can change your course title, set up pricing, configure email subscription settings, and more.

If you would like to learn more about creating and optimizing your course page settings, you can check our in-depth article about it.
  8. After setting up your course settings, click on the Publish button to finish creating your course.

How to manage modules and lessons

On the left side, you can see the Course navigator menu. Here you can manage your modules and lessons.

When you hover over three dots next to the name of your module you can:

  • Edit title
  • Duplicate module – this will create an exact copy of your module and all of the lessons in it.
  • Delete module – This will delete your module and all of the lessons in it.

Your lessons also have similar options:

  • Mark as ready / Mark as draft – this option changes the state of your lesson. Lessons marked as ready will be shown in your course.
  • Duplicate – creates an exact copy of your lesson.
  • Delete – will remove your lesson from a module.

You can change the order of your modules and lessons by clicking the three horizontal lines next to their title and then dragging and dropping them.
