You are a legend.

Why? Because we’re living in challenging times, where every day brings turbulence. More and more people feel lost and need to catch up with a world that’s changing too fast. And here you are – a professional life coach, a qualified person who’s ready to light a fire under people who need it.

But that’s not all. Apart from having all the coaching competencies, you’re also an entrepreneur. A business owner who needs to connect all the dots to thrive. However, there’s one thing still on your to-do list: marketing.

It seems scary and complicated, but with the right software, you’ll be up to the task.

How? With…

GetResponse — your ultimate marketing platform

Let’s say it out loud: even mid-sized businesses and enterprises with whole marketing departments are constantly experimenting with marketing, testing different tools, and trying to figure it all out.

And you are a team of one. How can you know where to start when there are thousands of marketing platforms out there, each serving a different purpose? Not to mention the AI tools.

The good news is we’re going to make it simple. There’s a marketing software that will help you manage the most crucial aspects of your marketing as a life coach.

Enter GetResponse. In this guide, we will walk you through all the fundamental capabilities. It will be super actionable.

Let’s do it!

Build foundations to get your clients

As a life strategist for your coaching clients, you need to be organized yourself. And this includes your marketing as well.

To save you time and effort, we’ve categorized GetResponse’s features to align them with your business needs.

The first category will be about building your foundations and attracting your prospects.

1. Create a website

Having a website is the ABC of every business. It’s your owned real estate in the algorithm world.

There are two ways to make it happen:

❌ The rather long and pricey way: Spend a lot of 💲 to pay a graphic designer to design your website and a front-end developer to code it.

✅ The much faster and cheaper way: Design and build it with GetResponse!

Here’s how to go about the second way:

Step 1: Select the Website Builder tool

It’s right here, on the left-hand side menu, among other awesome tools!

Finding the website builder.

Step 2: Choose between a template and AI

AI vs manual website setup.

You can either go left or right. There are no wrong choices here. If you want to play a little and build it yourself (with ease), click the template option.

Pick your template

You’re going to love this! There are plenty of templates to choose from, all grouped by purpose:

Website templates.

Once you pick a template that brings you the “Aha” moment, you can customize it, enter your text, and add new sections with a simple drag-and-drop builder. Fun time!

Let the AI do the work

If you’re more adventurous and you’re wondering what will happen if AI is your copilot here, then follow this path!

There will be a form waiting for you to populate:

AI website setup for life coaches.

And once you do that, your next step will be adding specific elements to your website:

AI website setup choosing elements.

Then, it’s time to select your color theme and add your logo:

AI website setup choosing your colors.

After adding your company details, the AI tool starts to work its charm and suggests three different design types:

AI website setup - three design choices.

Please remember to be mindful when using AI. It’s fast and stunning, but treat the output as something you need to polish on your end, especially regarding copywriting. The right messaging is crucial.

It’s also a great idea to check the websites of other life coaches to have a good benchmark. Here’s how Sahara Rose designed her home page and structured her top menu:

2. Create landing pages

The second asset you can create with GetResponse is landing pages. What’s the difference between a landing page and a website? While your website is your center of the universe, landing pages are stand-alone entities serving a particular campaign purpose.

For example, when you organize a webinar, the place where your prospects can sign up for your online event is a landing page. The same idea applies to selling an ebook, or achieving other commercial goals, such as promoting a new service offer like mindfulness and stress reduction meetings or a Black Friday deal.

Here’s a call-to-action section of Rich Litvin’s landing page promoting his Million Dollar Team offering:

Rich Litvin landing page example.

Just like with building websites, you don’t have to be a designer to craft a compelling landing page.

With GetResponse Landing Page Creator, the logic of designing a landing page looks very much the same as with the website builder. You can go with a template, or you can experiment with the AI tool.

If you feel more inclined towards templates, you have plenty to choose from. What’s handy is that you can filter them by theme:

Landing page templates.

And even if you feel that you want to craft something more custom that will give you more creative freedom, you can play with blank templates.

Once you have a template of choice, you can populate it with messaging, imagery, and — if available — testimonials that can help you convert visitors into coaching clients.

If you’re still hesitating, check out what Monica Castaneda — a professional trainer — says about our landing pages:

The landing pages are made by marketing geniuses! So if you find a right template for your business, all you have to do is select and replace.

3. Create forms and popups

Another part of growing your coaching business boils down to growing your email list. This is where Forms and popups come into play as well-established tools.

There are two primary goals for introducing forms and popups on your website:

  • Content objective: Email marketing remains one of the top content distribution channels. Once you grow your email list (and our tools can help you do that), you will gain a powerful channel to spread the word about your new content, such as webinars or podcast episodes.
  • Sales objective: At the end of the day, you’re aiming to convert your subscribers into paying clients. Regular and valuable content can help you get there, but first – you need to have a way for them to subscribe.

Here’s an example of how it can look like:

Life coach popup example.

Let’s get back to the GetResponse dashboard to see how you can build one.

If you’re already using our website builder or landing pages, you can add forms and popups using the drag-and-drop editor. You’ll find them in the right column, as shown in the image below:

Landing page forms and popups.

And if your website’s created with WordPress or other popular CMS, head over to the Forms and popups tool. There, you can choose between a popup or embedding your form wherever you want on your page:

Popup vs embedded form.

Whatever you choose, your next steps will be easy as pie. Just select one from a list of templates and customize it. What’s really great here is that you can filter by your goal: growing your email list, getting more sales, or collecting feedback from your website visitors.

Popup templates.

Pro tips:

  • Please bear in mind that many people find popups annoying, especially when they appear on the page very quickly. Try not to overload your website with popups and set the right timing for them to appear for your visitors.
  • Try to avoid manipulative text in forms or popups. A negative example could be: CTA button: “Yes, I want to live better” Right below the button: “No, I want to stay unhappy”

4. Integrate with popular tools

The last part of this chapter focuses on integrations. The great thing about GetResponse is that you can expand its core capabilities and have additional functions by integrating with other tools.

There are over 170 integrations available, so we’re not going to mention them all. Let’s focus on a few that you can leverage in terms of your website and growing your email list:

1. WordPress

If you built your website on WordPress, you can create a bridge between it and your account on GetResponse. As a result, you can create forms and popups and add contacts from your website to GetResponse. In addition, you’ll be able to adapt your marketing campaigns to match individual user behavior on your website with marketing automation.

2. GroupLeads and Groupboss

As a life coach, you will most likely try to create a Facebook group to build a community around your target audience’s needs and challenges. Each new group member is a potential client.

Manually adding them to a spreadsheet is a waste of time. The good news is, you can use two integrations: GroupLeads and Groupboss, to populate your email lists in GetResponse.

3. WishList Member and Memberpress

Building a membership site is another powerful way to make your audience gravitate towards you. Once you have a place where only members have exclusive access to your content and offers, you can successfully convert those members into paying clients.

While you can create a membership site using our website builder, you’ll also find integrations that allow you to build membership sites and transfer your members to your email lists in GetResponse: WishList Member and MemberPress.

4. Zapier and Make

If you have an engineering spirit in you and would like to connect GetResponse to a myriad of other tools, consider Zapier or Make. These tools allow you to automate many activities by predefining triggers and actions. For example, if someone schedules a call in your Calendly, they can be automatically added as a contact in GetResponse.

This is the logic: GetResponse + Zapier/Make + A tool of your choice.

Communicate and engage with your audience

Once you’ve built your foundations — your website, landing pages, popups, and integrations to grow your email lists — it’s time to organize your communication with your prospects and clients.

5. Send regular newsletters

GetResponse is an email marketing platform at its core, so you couldn’t be in a better place.

There are numerous benefits that you can achieve with this field of marketing:

  • You can say hello to your new subscribers with a friendly welcome email;
  • You can deliver value and nurture your leads with content that can make a positive change in their lives;
  • You can encourage conversation to learn about what’s troubling them, which can help you become a better coach.

That said, let’s dive into one of the most powerful content marketing channels — newsletters.

Let’s see how it works in GetResponse. Like before, you have that DIY vs AI duality:

AI vs manual newsletter setup.

I like being in charge, so I’m taking the ‘By myself’ route:

Newsletter settings.

As you see, all you need to do is come up with a subject line, add your recipients, and jump into designing your newsletter.

And again, you can feel like you’re in email marketing paradise:

Newsletter templates.

There are tons of predesigned templates, but since it’s about having a newsletter, after narrowing it down to the ‘Educate’ type, you can find something as good as this:

Newsletter template example.

Each template is, of course, fully customizable. You can apply your logo, brand colors, text fields, images, videos, and social media widgets!

But don’t just take our word for it! Here’s what Cindy Ashton, a successful coach, has to say about it:

What I love about GetResponse is that it is easy to use, and that’s really important. I love your templates. Your newsletter templates are easy to use and make it super easy to rinse, and repeat, and reuse them – just drag boxes and fill them out. It’s very intuitive and visual.

Cindy Ashton

Once you have it all ready, you can send your newsletter immediately, schedule it for a specific time, or even capitalize on the ‘perfect timing’ feature!

6. Send drip campaigns

So you’re about to send a weekly newsletter — great!

But your email marketing program doesn’t have to stop here. How about drip campaigns that can help you turn your subscribers into paying clients?

Think of drip campaigns as a series of pre-written emails that go out to your subscribers on a set schedule or based on specific actions they take.Another way to describe them is lead nurturing emails. And this is how Meriah Kruse leverages them in her coaching business — she uses GetResponse’s autoresponders to welcome new customers and to follow up with them, laddering from free incentives, through inexpensive offerings, up to more expensive products.

"These are called nurturing emails. It doesn’t matter what you call them, but what I am starting to understand is that every time I do a lead magnet, it has to eventually lead to something I’m going to sell."

Let’s get back to GetResponse’s kitchen and see how you can set up those autoresponders. Apart from establishing the timing:

Autoresponder Settings.

The rest works the same as with the newsletter.

7. Create more sophisticated scenarios with automation

If you want to combine your life coaching superpowers with marketing virtuosity, then enter marketing automation!

Forget about sending one email once in a while, and trying to figure out when to send what type of content to whom. With GetResponse’s marketing automation, you can create automated workflows that will take care of an entire customer journey map!

How does it work? Imagine creating a tree of specific events that trigger predefined actions. While it may sound like rocket science, with GetResponse you really don’t have to be an engineer to build them. Why? Because there are already created templates for specific purposes:

  • Welcome emails
  • Lead qualifying
  • Engagement and retention
  • Post-purchase
  • Online courses
  • Webinars and events, and more!

To get a better picture, imagine this scenario you can apply in your coaching business. The below automation workflow template is about converting your contacts to customers.

GetResponse Automation Workflow.

Here’s how it goes:

  1. People subscribe to your mailing list, either through a landing page or a popup.
  2. The system waits for 1 day to avoid overwhelming new subscribers.
  3. The first message goes out, saying “hi” to new subscribers, introducing yourself as a coach, your experience, and coaching approach. It’s a great moment to share your first valuable content.
  4. Then, based on whether or not your subscribers clicked the URL in your email, new actions split in different directions:
    a) If they click (showing interest), they’re assigned a tag (e.g., “Engaged Prospect”) and move to a more targeted nurturing sequence.

b) If they don’t click, they receive a different follow-up email with alternative content.

  1. The process repeats two more times, allowing for three different engagement paths based on the subscriber’s interactions.
  2. At each stage, subscribers are tagged based on their behavior, allowing for more personalized future communications.
  3. The final step assigns a tag that categorizes the subscriber’s overall engagement level, which can tell you what to do next with them. If they’re highly engaged, perhaps this is a good moment to pitch them with your coaching offer.

Ken Fukurawa, who increased his coaching revenue with GetResponse by 100%, shares how he uses marketing automation workflows:

When I get someone to sign up on my list, it’s critical for me to onboard them quickly, to build trust and a relationship with them. And, then to slowly start incorporating some promotions. With GetResponse, I can set up an automation workflow very, very easily. I can set up a welcome sequence. I can tag and segment people depending on how they interact with my content, with my emails, and then I can move them down, separate workflows, depending on what they do.

Educate and deliver value (and earn money) through content

In this final section, we’ll explore three powerful content formats for your coaching business. With each of them, you can hit multiple targets with one arrow, from lead nurturing to monetizing your expertise.

8. Host live and on-demand webinars

If we were to introduce some royal allegories, webinars should be called the queen of content marketing. And there are two reasons for that:

1. Meeting marketing and sales goals

  • First, you want to build your email list – a base of leads that you can further nurture. If you run free webinars on topics that have significant impact on people’s lives and wellbeing, those people will sign up and leave their email addresses.
  • Second, you can organize these online events exclusively for folks on your email list, which will help you build stronger relationships with them, retain them, and eventually convert them into paying clients.
  • Third, with paid webinars you can simply earn money on your knowledge and guidance. Imagine organizing a webinar where you set up a price $10 per ticket. Let’s suppose 87 people register for it. That’s $870 in your pocket!

2. Content marketing machine

Organizing (and recording!) one webinar means that you will have:

  • An on-demand webinar that can constantly generate more email signups down the line
  • A long YouTube video
  • A series of short videos: multiple YouTube shorts, stories, and reels on Facebook and Instagram
  • A series of organic and paid posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram
  • A slide deck
  • At least one blog article
  • At least one email
  • An ebook

What’s not to like?

And another fantastic thing about GetResponse is that you can organize and run webinars within that platform! In one place, you will build a landing page where people can register for your webinar, send invitations, auto reminders and follow-ups, set up payment gateways, and much more!

Webinars require some effort, though. But they’re really worth it! If you want to learn how to set them up, watch our step-by-step webinar:

9. Sell online courses

Most successful coaches are all about creating systems and digital products that help them serve multiple clients at the same time. One way to do this is through online courses.

You can create an online course from scratch or curate your existing knowledge and package it as a standalone course. And if you’ve already done recorded webinars, the transition between the two formats will be super smooth.

Coming soon, you’ll be able to create courses right inside GetResponse’s Content Monetization plan. Packed with AI and fully integrated with our email automation tools, it’ll help you build authority, attract a larger audience, and make sales.

And if you already have existing courses hosted elsewhere, you can just integrate your tool to ensure your students are being added to your GetResponse account.

10. Send premium newsletters

Finally, we’ve got premium newsletters. We’ve already walked you through the process of creating newsletters in GetResponse, but the goal was different — to build a relationship with your subscribers with a weekly dose of free, educational content.

At some stage, however, you can join the ranks of those solopreneurs who run paid newsletters. Much like usual coaching services or memberships, they let you earn recurring revenue without having to chase sponsors or ask your clients to get their credit cards once again.
